Help Fund Academic Centers to Help Prevent Dropouts

Children from poor villages are often sent to work for minimal income, or lack the skills to succeed and drop out of school, perpetuating the cycle of poverty. The Salesians in this area have selected 100 locations to build free academic coaching centers where they will tutor students to succeed in school. They will empower them to bring about change in their families and communities by establishing community outreach groups.

The total cost to provide teachers, educational and sports/recreational materials at 100 centers for 1 year = $36,000.00; however, there are numerous opportunities to provide partial funding for this project:

1. Alangulam / Kalavasal – 6 centers = $2,160.00
2. Alangulam / Melanmarainadu – 11 centers = $3,960.00
3. Dindigul – 3 centers = $1,080.00
4. Keela Eral – 8 centers = $2,880.00
5. Kazhiappanallur – 16 centers = $5,760.00
6. Vilathikulam – 24 centers = $8,640.00
7. Sayalgudi – 32 centers = $11,520.00

This project is located in nine districts in the southern Tamil Nadu State in Tiruchy, India.
