Throughout this region, Salesian missionaries work to address the root causes of poverty that have negatively affected thousands of youth — and have caused many to flee, unaccompanied, in search of better opportunities. Programs focus on improving economic opportunity through education and workforce development; teaching youth marketable skills in order that they can find and retain long-term employment; empowering women and girls with the resources and opportunities they need to make sound decisions for themselves and their families and much more.
