The Mary Help of Christians Elementary School provides pre-kindergarten through grade 8 education for poor youth. Salesian missionaries also operate elementary and high schools in communities in Nicaragua. Education has proven to be an effective means of breaking the cycle of poverty while giving the most vulnerable youth a sense of personal dignity and self-worth.
More than 60 primary and secondary students attending Saint John Bosco Salesian School in Granada received scholarships thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions. The students come from poor families who do not earn a substantial wage or who are led by single mothers. The families have serious financial difficulties and struggle to pay tuition on their own. The scholarship funding ensures youth from these families have access to high-quality education.
