Salesian missionaries first arrived on the African continent in 1896 — establishing a vocational training center for youth living in the Ennerdale township of Johannesburg, South Africa. Today, our priests, brothers and sisters work tirelessly in 44 countries to address the interconnected root causes of poverty, poor health, war, educational disparities and more.
