Clinton Bush Haiti Fund To Invest in Salesian School
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Haiti two years ago, the Salesian Professional School lay in ruins. Destroyed was the oldest and largest vocational training school in the country, and one of the few to hold accredited status.
Today, reconstruction is nearly complete. And thanks to a significant grant recently announced by the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, our school is ready to equip 620 at-risk youth with the tools and skills needed to help rebuild their homeland.
In a statement on its website, the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund says it chose to invest in the Salesian Professional School because it "fits directly within our focus on job training and life skills."
The grant will provide up to $225,000 for heavy machinery, tools and materials that will enable us to train and certify young men and women in critical construction trades such as carpentry, woodworking, masonry, electrical wiring and welding.
What's more, the funding helps resurrect a cherished institution vital to the Port-au-Prince community. The Salesian Professional School has long been regarded by the government for consistently meeting high standards and it has earned a strong reputation in the job market for graduating well-qualified workers.
Now that the school is back up and running, the Salesians are able to deliver more hope and promise for families determined to improve their country and their lives.
Encouraging progress in Haiti continues, thanks to the hard work and determination of the Salesians and the ongoing generosity of caring friends like you. Much work is yet to be done which is why we hope you can continue your support of Salesian Missions for the benefit of needy children and families in Haiti and around the world.
