In this remote, impoverished diocese of Equatorial Guinea, there are several parishes where the population lives without safe drinking water. The Salesians hope to alleviate this crisis, increase sanitation, improve the health of children, and supply clean drinking water by constructing wells and cisterns in 18 rural sites.

Please note – even partial funding for this project would be welcome. There are opportunities to fund individual wells at each of the 18 locations. Each well = $18,000.00

Disadvantaged children and young adults attending schools in impoverished areas of India are often unaware of available career opportunities. Many drop out of school to work and support their families. This project will test their aptitudes, provide guidance to discover their interests, and explore career options for successful futures. It will also develop positive self-esteem, confidence and motivation to succeed.

This type of intervention program has been successful in a number of schools in other districts and involves interaction between students, parents, teachers and counselors.

Partial Funding Opportunities with Goal of 50 schools in 5 Districts of Tamil Nadu:

a. One-time start-up costs for equipment and storage expenses = $3,714.00

b. Career guidance on wheels: A traveling vehicle outfitted with audio-visual capability to bring regular career guidance awareness programs to schools in remote areas without proper classrooms or facilities = $43,286.00

c. Recurring monthly expenses: for project management, operating costs, bi-annual career fairs, and counselor and facilitator salaries in 5 districts = $59,714.00

The Salesians’ BEST (Bosco Employability Skills Training) Program helps marginalized college students prepare for long-term careers. By providing comprehensive skills training and offering job placement opportunities, the program seeks to make students career-ready so they can obtain sustainable employment and help build a stronger society.

Each year, the program will be available to 2,500 candidates from 10 colleges. The total cost to fund the entire project for one year is $74,542.00; however, there are several partial funding opportunities available:

• Upgrade computers and replenish supplies = $4,371.00 annually
• Provide for personnel and operating costs = $70,171.00 annually, with breakdown as follows:
  1. One Project Manager = $4,286.00
  2. One Application and Documents Manager = $3,429.00
  3. Five Career Counselors = $15,429.00 (or $3,085.80 each)
  4. Five Life Skills Trainers = $15,429.00 (or $3,085.80 each)
  5. Five Job Counselors = $15,429.00 (or $3,085.80 each)
  6. Annual operating costs = $16,169.00

The Don Bosco Center is an educational institution in Ramfalbil that serves approximately 786 students between kindergarten and 10th grade, as well as the local parish and community. The Center is in need of a multi-purpose hall for cultural programs, indoor activities, assemblies and community meetings.

Please note: Funding for the construction of this project is being requested from multiple sources. Salesian Missions USA is seeking assistance to construct the roof for this community hall.

A large number of adults in this area are infected with HIV/AIDS. Many have died, leaving their young children orphaned and abandoned. This project will provide nutrition, support, healthcare and education for 160 orphaned children. The poorest children without guardians will live at the Don Bosco Care Home, and those who can live with extended families will receive the same benefits.

Special funding opportunity: An extraordinary gift of $107,140.00 would help educate the children and keep the program running for more than 2 years!

To protect, foster and educate 160 children = $53,570.00

Constructing an Audio Visual Studio at the Don Bosco Youth Center will allow the Salesians to train young people for media-related jobs such as photography, video production, journalism and more. It will also allow them to produce quality media content with a positive message and provide ministry through media.

This project is located at Don Bosco Youth Center, in Shillong, Meghalaya, India.

The total cost to construct and furnish the A/V Center and train educators = $35,418.00
