Past Projects

The Don Bosco Home in Kandi houses children who have been abused, abandoned and exploited. Most of them have fled from their homes and families, and have begun the dangerous act of living and trying to survive on the dangerous city streets. The Don Bosco Home provides them with food, shelter and an education for the chance at a better life. Without proper funding, this life-saving facility cannot continue to operate and dozens of children will be at risk of losing this sanctuary.   This on-going project is located at the Don Bosco Home in Kandi, Benin. The total cost to maintain the home, including supplies, staff and activities for one year = $71,162.00   This project received one year of funding (through November 2021) from a local resource. Existing vocational school needs to upgrade dated classrooms and expand programs to accomodate more students. There is a real need to offer vocational and life skills to empower poor young women. Please note: These partial funding opportunities are available: a. Refurbishing 5 classrooms = $20,000.00  (funded – thank you!) b. Tuition for 3 years for 250 students = $36,000.00 c. Expansion of program courses – equipment, teachers, books, etc. = $32,580.00   This project is located at the Don Bosco Vocational Center in Uvira, The Democratic Republic of the Congo.* Total cost for expansion and upgrade= $88,580.00 Funding still needed: $67,580   Partial funding received – thank you! $20,000.00 received $1,000.00 on August 11, 2022

Constructing an Audio Visual Studio at the Don Bosco Youth Center will allow the Salesians to train young people for media-related jobs such as photography, video production, journalism and more. It will also allow them to produce quality media content with a positive message and provide ministry through media.   This project is located at Don Bosco Youth Center, in Shillong, Meghalaya, India. The total cost to construct and furnish the A/V Center and train educators = $35,418.00 Funding still needed: $19,418.00   Partial funding received from a local source: $16,000.00 – August 10, 2021

Kilimanjaro International Institute of Telecommunications, Electronics and Computers (KIITEC) is the leading educational center of its kind serving poor youth in the East-African region. KIITEC provides training to produce a skilled and entrepreneurial workforce. The Salesians who manage the center live many miles away from campus. Constructing a residence onsite will provide a more consistent Salesian presence, more effective youth ministry, and administrative supervision of the center. Please note – even partial funding would be a Godsend for these Salesian missionaries  PHASE ONE:

3. To construct kitchen and dining areas = $13,500.00
