Funding for the final phase of construction of the Corpus Christi Chapel is needed. The basic structure is complete but a roof has to be added. The parishoners are now using the chapel structure but without a roof, they are many times exposed to harsh weather conditions.

This project is located at the Ijebu-Ode Diocese in Ikoto, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Providing clean water to those who do not have access, especially in remote communities, is a priority for our Salesian missionaries. In the Bono region of Ghana, the closest water source available for children and families is a bacteria-ridden stream. During each drought season, the children walk for miles in search of distant water sources. This takes them away from school and hinders their education. Approximately 3,500 men, women and children will benefit from new wells in six communities once the project is complete.

There are numerous opportunities to help fund this project:

Salesians missionaries have been bringing clean water to poor regions of Africa and the need for running water is even more urgent with the outbreak of Covid-19. Clean running water will help curb the spread of disease in rural communities. Currently, an urgent need for boreholes and tanks exists in these villages and will benefit thousands.

There are numerous opportunities to help fund this project. We pray that you can help fund one or two of these wells…or if possible, all 4 of these life-saving clean water wells:

1. One mechanized borehole at Yamfo (mainly for a primary school run by Sisters):  $7,182.00
2. One mechanized borehole with a metal water tower at Kwaehunu (for a developing rural village):  $5,789.00
3. One mechanized borehole with a metal water tower at Ahiresu (to supply clean water to 300 people):  $6,313.00
4. One mechanized borehole with a metal water tower at Benikrom (to supply clean water to 1,000 people):  $6,646.00

This secondary school continues to expand and now educates over 400 students. A second well needs to be drilled to provide an adequate supply of clean water for drinking, cooking and to ensure good hygiene.

The Salesians of Kimihurura began their ministry in 1962 and over time the increasing number of Catholics outgrew the existing church. Recently a larger church was constructed to serve more than 3,000 Catholics in the community. Supplemental furniture and a lectern are needed to help with the pastoral services offered. Additionally, a keyboard piano would strengthen the music and liturgical ministry of the church.

The local community has been working to construct a chapel since 2014 – collecting money, building stones, and providing the labor. The structure is complete through the roof level, but funding is needed to complete the project. They would like to finish construction before the next rainy season, which begins in November. While the chapel is being built, Mass and other religious celebrations continue to be held in makeshift shelters and outdoors.

This Salesian Technical Center provides education and training to youth and young adults to help them develop skills for employment and self-sustainability. The agricultural project seeks to purchase 1,000 chickens to produce eggs, generate income and provide entrepreneurial training.

The Catholic Church has had a presence in Nepal for over three hundred years, but very little is known about its history in the area. A Salesian priest has done extensive research and written a chronicle of the Catholic Church in Nepal. Assistance is needed to publish the book and distribute it to the community – especially the young – to encourage their spiritual growth.

St. John Bosco Church is in the process of being built to serve the community in the poor village of Ondo. Salesian missionaries were provided local funding to construct the foundation and walls of the church. They just need funding to construct the roof and complete the project so the church can begin serving the community.
