The Don Bosco Child Protection Center rescues street children who are victims of crime, abuse and poverty. This center offers the opportunity of a better life by providing compassion and support; medical care and counseling; safe shelter; and basic education and skills training to help give these youngsters HOPE for a brighter future.   This project is located at the Don Bosco Child Protection Center in Lagos, Nigeria. The Salesians have locally raised $16,181.29 of the annual operating budget and are in need of funding for the balance. Remainder of funds needed to cover the cost of housing, food, medical care, toiletries, clothing and administrative fees for one year = $28,725.23

The Cetpro Bosconia School is in a settlement made up mostly of migrant and displaced populations. Even before the COVID-19 lockdown, the school was preparing to help teachers provide virtual schooling. But without proper equipment and materials, disadvantaged students cannot participate in remote learning. 50 laptops will help them continue their education during these challenging times. This project is located at the Cetpro Bosconia Technical Education Center in Piura, Peru. The total cost to provide 50 laptops at $300 each = $15,000.00

Young girls and women are most affected by unemployment in this region of Nigeria. The Salesians have developed a program to train young women in sewing and tailoring, provide them with an internship, and then provide support and supervision to help them start their own viable businesses. The first year plan is to include 20 girls in this  life-changing opportunity. The Salesians and local donors have raised half the funds needed to support the first year plan for this program. This project is located at Lagos State and Ijebu Ode in Ogun State, Nigeria. Salesian missionaries have been helping Indigenous children and families in this extremely poor, remote area for over 70 years. They are in need of a replacement for the 4-wheel drive vehicle that has fallen into disrepair, which they frequently use to travel from village to village. A new vehicle will enable our missionaries to continue providing food, clean water and other essential supplies, especially now during the pandemic crisis. This project is located at the Retreat Don Bosco in Yercaud; Tamil Nadu, India.

Clean water is a scarcity in communities inhabited by poor farmers and peasant traders. They must travel long distances to get to the closest stream in the region, which has been deemed unhealthy for consumption. During the dry season, this stream dries up, leaving them without any water at all. This project will fund the drilling of a borehole, pipes, tank, stand and generator at each of three communities, which will benefit hundreds of families. There are numerous opportunities to help fund this project. Please consider funding even just one of these life-saving, clean water wells:

1. One mechanized borehole and generator at Ishienu Amofu:  $15,623.08
2. One mechanized borehole, tank, pipes and generator at Ohuani-Amofu:  $15,623.08

This parish was established just a few years ago in an extremely desolate area without a connection to a water supply. Due to government restrictions, the community can no longer meet for religious services until an adequate water supply and sanitation services are built. Funding will provide the means to install a water supply tank and the pipes needed to connect to a nearby water source. This project is located at St. John Bosco Parish in Namibia. Funding for the final phase of construction of the Corpus Christi Chapel is needed. The basic structure is complete but a roof has to be added. The parishoners are now using the chapel structure but without a roof, they are many times exposed to harsh weather conditions.   This project is located at the Ijebu-Ode Diocese in Ikoto, Ogun State, Nigeria. The total cost for all materials, equipment and labor = $31,702.00

Providing clean water to those who do not have access, especially in remote communities, is a priority for our Salesian missionaries. In the Bono region of Ghana, the closest water source available for children and families is a bacteria-ridden stream. During each drought season, the children walk for miles in search of distant water sources. This takes them away from school and hinders their education. Approximately 3,500 men, women and children will benefit from new wells in six communities once the project is complete. There are numerous opportunities to help fund this project:

Salesians missionaries have been bringing clean water to poor regions of Africa and the need for running water is even more urgent with the outbreak of Covid-19. Clean running water will help curb the spread of disease in rural communities. Currently, an urgent need for boreholes and tanks exists in these villages and will benefit thousands. There are numerous opportunities to help fund this project. We pray that you can help fund one or two of these wells…or if possible, all 4 of these life-saving clean water wells:

1. One mechanized borehole at Yamfo (mainly for a primary school run by Sisters):  $7,182.00
2. One mechanized borehole with a metal water tower at Kwaehunu (for a developing rural village):  $5,789.00
