Children growing up in the slums of India rarely attend school. All too often, they are forced to forego educational opportunities because of extreme poverty. Instead, they are thrown into the workforce at a very young age, where they face harsh conditions and mistreatment. Their parents have no other options. They must rely on their children to work just to put food on the table.

But there is hope. Thanks to caring friends like you, our dedicated team of missionaries at Don Bosco Navajeevan (DBNJ) are providing life-saving food, along with other essential goods and services, for children and their families who are struggling to survive in the slums of Hyderabad.

Our missionaries know that the path out of poverty is education. They are laboring tirelessly to get these kids in school and to provide them and their families with life-saving, nutritious food. But when parents cannot afford to put meals on the table, the children must go to work; and therefore, miss out on school … and the tragic cycle of poverty continues.

Thankfully, DBNJ is addressing this crisis and helping to ease their suffering. DBNJ’s team, comprised of experts from diverse fields, are working together to ensure that these kids have access to health care services and good nutrition to address illnesses such as malnutrition and anemia. In addition, they offer monthly check-ups for at-risk adults and provide awareness-raising activities on necessary topics like hygiene and overall health.
